Growing World Peace One

Summary: Although World Peace One is the parent organization of the Group Genie think tank, time has proven that most people treat “peace” organizations in a dismissive way. Current plans are to use the parent name sparingly and to promote the ‘dramatic’ Group Genie think tank. Nevertheless, the most basic functions of the parent nonprofit need to be maintained – financial statements, board of directors, etc.

World Peace One is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, tax-deductible nonprofit. Organized in 1988, and becoming tax-exempt in 1989 it has not grown—nor has it died. The period of about 20 years was the time in which most of these ideas, methods, stories and other materials were developed. During that time, Tim Cimino has functioned as the executive director. For about five years in the early 1990s he was paid a stipend but has functioned before and after, without pay.

If the Group Genie approach catches on, it will be necessary to continue and build up the board and oversight of the parent nonprofit.

Status: We are functioning on a minimal level with the minimum number of board members, three.

Plans and Needs: We need more board members, ones that are committed to the Ai Sakai and major methods of Group Genie.

Potential Impact: Maintaining a tax-exempt status and developing a strong board will give people confidence that the organization is becoming a quality organization with the normal checks and balances.
